No social grants or help in those days for widows with children. Jessie was 30 left widowed with very young children. Must have been a formidable woman. I only met her in her last years, but Margaret could possibly tell you more about her. | ||

SA. Martha died 1887 (at 35) leaving a large family (below). She had all these children by age of 35. Samuel was a new baby when Martha died. Horrendous. William married again same year 1887. Desperation? |
