The "Titans"
St Georges at 9:00am, first leg of the race
begins and Justin Collis heads out through the Town for the Airport 3.1 miles away. The morning is cool
but the road is "hot". Justin makes it over the bridge and starts
on the long haul around Kindley Field.
19:12 minutes later Justin hands over to Ed Armstrong at the Airport.
Result: Individual: 3.1 miles in 19:12 minutes or 6:11m/mile (Cumulative: 3.1 miles in 19:12).
Ed
makes a strong push on the course's longest leg (6.9 miles) and is still pounding out the pace just past John Smith's
Bay. The morning temperature is rising but it does not appear to be affecting
Ed as he charges past Spittal Pond knowing that the end of his lap (Cloverdale
Estate) is now well within reach.
Result: Individual: 6.9 miles in 42:53 minutes or 6:13m/mile (Cumulative: 10.0 miles in 1:02:5).
The
hand over at Cloverdale between Ed Armstrong and his father, Ed Armstrong Sr, is
smooth as Ed Sr begins the next leg to the
Warwick gas station 4.0 miles further on.
Ed
Sr continues the progress with a stellar performance and a big smile!!
Seen here as Ed Sr passes Trimingham Hill roundabout and starts the climb up to
Rural Hill. Finally, Ed Sr enjoys the fruits of his labours with a
well-deserved rest at Warwick gas station.
Result: Individual: 4.0 miles in 30:56 minutes or 7:44m/mile (Cumulative: 14.0 miles in 1:33.01)
Chris
Gauk takes over at Warwick gas station on the second longest leg (6.2 miles) to
Oleander Cycles in Southampton. South Shore is as beautiful as ever, but Chris
has no time for the view! On the right, Chris turns the corner at Barnes'
Corner for the final stage of his run.
Result: Individual: 6.2 miles in 43:57 minutes or 7:05m/mile (Cumulative: 20.2 miles in 2:16:58)
The
race is now almost complete as the youngest member, Dorian Armstrong, begins his
charge for the finish at Long Bay in Somerset. Seen to the right, Dorian flies
past Somerset Bridge still feeling strong and looking good.
After
a gruelling climb, Dorian comes over the hill at Fort Scaur and heads for the
next hill! It is now 11:30am and the Bermuda sun is beating down on the
runners. Dorian turns the last corner and begins
the sprint to the end. One last kick and he blazes over the finish line
completing the team's time of 2:36:54.
Result: Individual: 2.8 miles in 19:56 minutes or 6:52m/mile (Cumulative: 23.0 miles in 2:36:54 or 6:49m/mile)
