Sun240601.jpg (69835 bytes)Sun240603.jpg (38399 bytes)Sunday morning, 24th June, 2001 and the teams gather.  Justin and Caitlin are to compete in the 3k race from Fidelity's headquarters at the Foot Of The Lane to the Bird Cage and back.  Before you know it, the race begins and the runners head off down East Broadway on the first leg.  The pack holds together at the start, but it will not be long before the distance takes its toll on some.

Sun240612.jpg (50267 bytes)Sun240614.jpg (83757 bytes)A new champ was also seen at the race, Ben.  Taking all this stuff very seriously, Ben ensures that he warms up and flexes all the relevant muscles.  As always, he is wearing his distinctive yellow shorts so that when there is merely a streak of light, the camera men know that Ben has past.  All the practice (not to mention patience) pays off as Ben show his style on the home stretch.

Sun240602.jpg (60601 bytes)Sun240609.jpg (86316 bytes)In the adult class are Judy and John doing the 5k team walk.  The racers are off and already Judy pulls into the lead. Sun240610.jpg (109862 bytes)As expected, Judy keeps up the lead, but John is only a minute or two (or three or four, ...) behind.  Both look tired, but the race was worth the effort, or so would say the brave.  Judy, still trying to appear strong, asks, breathlessly nevertheless, "how was that?"  Being frank, but yet trying to maintain his composure, John replies "well, I could think of better things to do on a Sunday morning!"
