Iron Kids Triathlon 2002

This is Iron Kids 2002, and what a tremendous field we have on display today.  Ben Collis is one of the first out of the water.  Then he heads for transition.  Next it is the cycle, and Ben keeps up the pace.

Dorian is running a great race but, unfortunately, the traffic is terrible - so how is a man to triathlon in a jam!!!!  Brendan Doyle follows closely behind in the 7-10 age group.  Coming in to transition after a box-in, Dorian handles the change over.  Followed right behind is Brendan with a smooth follow through.  

Next, the men hit the run, a one kilometer, gruelling tarmac-based run over back of Clearwater.

Next, it is the 11 to 15s.  Justin, 202 is first out  of the water.  The team follows very, very closely behind; next is Tim with a very good swim, and then Geoffrey emerges from the water.  Ricky is, starting several seconds behind, is next finish the swim. Next is Alex.

Then they head off on the cycle rode in a windy and humid Saturday.  Tim is first in with a stellar ride, followed closely by Justin. Next is Ricky.  And Alex is not far behind.

The run is two laps of the perimeter course over the hot road. Tim is off to a good start. Justin is, however, pulling up from behind.  Geoffrey is next with a strong stride, followed by Alex.  

At the finish line, Justin claims 27:05 minutes for first place. Tim is second with 27:32 minutes and Ricky third with 29.04 minutes.

Caitlin has a good start, emerging from the water in good form.  Then she is off on the cycle and comes in with strong form.  Finally, Caitlin pounds home with a finish in 42:03 minutes.
